The Collaborative Leadership Certificate program gives you actionable, tangible ways to lead cross-functional projects, even if you don’t have formal authority with the teams involved. This certificate program is great for people who lead projects across teams or team leaders who must work with others across their organization.
Is this certificate designed for leading teams or projects?
It’s designed for both. You will gain new human-centered skills and ways of thinking to lead projects that span across teams, even when you don’t have formal authority. One thing to keep in mind, this program isn’t about project management tactics and tools; it’s about how you create and foster relationships and conditions to effectively and successfully lead and work alongside others.
I'm Interested in culture change and/or change management. Is this covered within the certificate program?
We do focus on change as part of this certificate (Designing for Change, Power of Purpose)–these courses that teach you how to take action to align people around a common goal and bring about change (culture or otherwise) to your team, organization, or even community, by mobilizing others around that goal. These courses are not about organizational change management theories and strategies.
IDEO U offers two Leadership Certificate Programs. Can I take both?
Yes. The certificates differ significantly from one another, though they complement one another. Both provide key leadership skills. The Foundations in Creative Leadership Certificate helps you understand and begin to develop essential leadership styles and capabilities to lead creative work. The Collaborative Leadership Certificate gives you actionable, tangible ways to lead cross-functional projects, even if you don’t have formal authority with the teams involved (and, even if you do!). You will find that the courses in Collaborative Leadership will support and build on the concepts you learned in Foundations in Creative Leadership, and vice versa. The skills you learn across both certificates are complementary.
